1981 SPORTSTER 1000 cc FOR SALE

We have too many XLs and need space. It is finally time to let the '81 XL go to another home where it will get more excercise. Current mileage is has 13,267. Engine was overhauled in 1989 with the following parts replaced: 0.030 oversize pistons and rings, piston pins, crank journal, both rods and rod bearings, gaskets, etc. Cylinders were bored and valves ground. Had approximately 10,000 miles at the time. Has not been ridden off of the property since 1994. Started periodically to keep everything operating. Has had plugs replaced and carburetor cleaned with new kit installed. Front fender replaced with a bobbed fender. Gas tank replaced with stock style, but wider for 3.25 gallon capacity. Original fender and tank are available. New paint is candy apple red with black side panels on gas tank. Seat shown is not accurate. Actual seat is two place, not solo. Price is $4,000 OBO.
